Bournemouth in Bloom 2025

Last week we had a very special visitor to our KS1 celebration assembly. Anne Fisher from Bournemouth in Bloom came to give us a very special trophy.

Earlier in the Summer Mr Keeley went to a ceremony with all of the schools from the area to see who had the best Sensory Garden. The judges decided that for the first time ever Winton Primary were the winners and we received a shield, a blue plaque and a certificate.

By winning the schools award we were then entered into the “Places of learning” category for the Autumn ceremony. This time we were up against Universities and language schools who spend a lot of money on their gardens.

Thanks to the hard work by all the children at Winton Primary who collect and plant seeds, water and harvest fruit and vegetables our Courtyard Garden won the top prize. Anne Fisher came to our assembly and presented us with a really shiny trophy and another plaque and another certificate!

But there’s more!! Our magnificent Red Oak tree, situated in the Year 1 playground, won the Silver Gilt award for the Champion Tree. Every year children collect the leaves from our Red Oak to make the mulch that keeps our Sensory Garden looking so good so we’re very glad that our beautiful tree now has its very own award!
