Year 4 had a fantastic trip to the Red House Museum and the Norman House ruins in Christchurch as part of their Anglo-Saxon topic.
At the museum, pupils explored artefacts from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Saxon period. They sketched items, learned what they were made of, and compared them to modern-day objects. They were especially interested in Saxon burial items and discussed why so many weapons were found at sites like Bargates.
Later, they visited the Norman House ruins and used their sketching skills to draw parts of the building. It was a brilliant day of hands-on learning, bringing history to life!
