In Geography this half term, Year 4 have been exploring the question: ‘How does land use vary between locations?’. To launch our topic, the children looked at land use through exploring Ordnance Survey maps, historical maps and images on Google Earth. They had the chance to explore new software on ‘Digimap’ which enabled them to see how land is used around the world and could even compare how the land has changed by seeing older maps, dating back to 1950! This new knowledge has inspired Year 4 to begin thinking about the topic landing where they will be designing their own idyllic settlement. Eventually, they will be presenting their work on land use to a local town planner who will give feedback on their design. Keep up your enquiry skills Year 4!
