Last week, the children explored the vibrant world of European flags through a collaging project. Before diving into their art, each class learned about the countries represented by the flags, gaining a brief overview of their cultures and symbols.
Afterwards, the children sketched out their chosen flags, carefully planning the shapes and patterns they would need. Using a selection of colored tissue paper, they applied the technique of overlapping layers to recreate the flags, giving each one a unique texture and dimension.
It was wonderful to see how engaged the students were, not just with the artistic process, but with the learning behind each flag. Their final pieces will be visible through a colourful display down the Year 4 corridor. The children can’t wait for the school community to see it!
