Reception have launched their new topic with a box of wonder.
They explored floating and sinking and what happens when you put objects in water.
There was a torch in the box so the children explored how to make shadows and what objects make a shadow. Interestingly Miss Churchward’s glasses created a shadow, but also showed that some materials don’t create a shadow because the light can pass through them.
They also explored magnetism and investigated which objects in the classroom are or are not magnetic.
The children noticed very quickly that something had to be made of metal to be magnetic, but they also were fascinated to learn that not all metals are magnetic.
