Three year groups have been busy developing their ukulele skills this term. Year three have been introduced to their first chords and have been playing melodies using the open strings. Year five have been learning to play chord sequences and have started to read and play melodies using tablature notation. Year six have been learning to play an arrangement of ‘C Jam Blues’ by Duke Ellington and improvising short patterns using the blues scale. Our Friday ukulele club have also been busy learning a new repertoire and are looking forward to performing an arrangement of ‘Best Day of My Life’ in assembly. The children were also treated to some fantastic ukulele playing by singer songwriter Kitty Stewart during a special assembly recently.
