Year 5 visit the living rainforest!

As part of our topic this half term, year five visited the living rainforest situated in Thatcham. This is the only place in the UK that offers children a chance to experience a real rainforest. Mist, bird calls and chirping from a frog the size of a thumbnail all met the ears of the children as they wandered into the humid environment!

We saw, toucans, armadillos, monitors and scorpions amongst other exotic creature and plants. The main aim of the day was to learn about adaptation and, in part, evolution. The children had a great time and impressed the guides with their knowledge of the rainforest which will be built upon in the classroom!
