Platinum Jubilee

The children in Year 1 had a very exciting message from a very important person. Head to our Instagram page and the Year 1 story highlights to see a message from The Queen!

She has asked the children to find out about her life and share their learning with the local community to form part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

This week the children have started learning a talking text all about The Queen, which they will re-tell to members of the local Women’s Institute when they visit our exhibition at the end of May. The children are also busy making lots of work to show in the exhibition including a timeline of her life, portraits of The Queen, information about The Coronation and facts about her life.

The children have learnt about important events in the life of The Queen, and have made a timeline to show these events.

They have also written a magazine page with facts about The Queen. They found out that The Queen was born on 21 April 1926. She married Prince Phillip in 1947 and they were happily married for 73 years. The Queen has a very large family; did you know she has 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. We think the pile of presents under the Christmas tree is probably quite big with such a large family!

On Thursday 26th May the exhibition on The Queen will be held in the Ball Play area, feel free to go and have a look at the end of the school day and see all the learning the Year 1 children have done.
