Winton Win the Tennis

This week the Year 3/4 Winton Tennis team went to Victoria Avenue Tennis Club where they played a competition against seven other schools. The format of the competition was different this year. Instead of a series of singles and doubles matches all of the children had to perform individual or partner based skills relating to tennis in order to score points for their team. At the end of ten exciting activity stations all of the points were added up and our Winton Dragons team of ten were crowned the champions. Winton Warriors, our other team in the competition finished in 3rd place just one point behind the second placed school! Pleasingly our winning team now get to compete in The Dorset School Games at Bryanston School next half term. Special mentions should go to Benjamin Trimby who recorded some great records on the day and was awarded a determination medal by Mr Millar for his efforts. Likewise for Josh Wells who received his medal for upholding The School Games values with great play and sporting behaviour. Mr Millar was also delighted to unveil the Commonwealth games and now Winton Primary’s newest mascot ‘Perry’ who will be joining us and bringing us more luck for the rest of our sporting events this season! You can see Perry and the rest of the team in the photo. Congratulations to everyone involved.
