Black History Month in Reception

Reception have loved their first topic at school, ‘Who am I?’ The children brought in photos of when they were a baby and ‘now’. We spoke about the changes that have happened since they were baby and everything they have learnt. Everyone did a great job of listening and sharing all the new skills they have learnt. We also discussed what makes us unique and special. The children had super ideas – having curly hair, being tall, being a good friend and looking after others were just some of the suggestions they had.

This month, we have also been celebrating ‘Black History Month’ by listening to a range of books about black people who have made history. The teachers have all been so impressed with how well they have listened to these stories. Here are the books we have enjoyed:
