Recently, Year 5 have been exploring the fascinating world of living organisms in Science. As part of this topic, the children investigated the life processes of reproduction in both plants and animals, developing their understanding of how living things grow, survive and reproduce.
The children confidently identified the key characteristics shared by different groups of animals and used their scientific knowledge to compare and discuss similarities and differences between species.
After identifying these characteristics, the children worked collaboratively to classify animals into groups according to their shared features. This engaging activity encouraged thoughtful discussion, teamwork and scientific reasoning, as the children were given the freedom to organise and justify their own classification systems. It was wonderful to see the children applying their learning so enthusiastically while developing their collaborative and investigative skills.
