The Year 1 children had a fantastic trip walking around Moordown exploring the land use around our school. Over this half-term, the children will be learning about the key features of their local area. So, this week the children used their simple fieldwork and observational skills to study the geography of the school and the key human and physical features of its surrounding environment. The children noticed lots of human features on their walk, such as houses, shops, offices and the fun fair! They also saw lots of physical features such as trees, bushes, fields and flowers.
We have been really impressed with the knowledge that the children have developed so far. They have shown their understanding through explaining the similarities and differences of a geographical area and were able to extend their learning to a real-life experience on our walk. Well done Year 1!
