Winton Walks Year 1

As part of our field work in Year One we have been looking at the land use around school.

We have talked about human features: things that have been made by humans such as shops, houses and cafes. As well as physical features: things that are natural like beaches, cliffs and forests. We have talked about how towns and rural settings differ and how we adapt places to add features that help us with our day to day lives.

Today we took all of the Year One children around the school community, using a tally chart we looked for things we might see. We saw lots of houses, and shops. We discussed what shops we could see on the high street, before heading along some urban roads and saw lots of houses. We then got to Redhill park and saw the field, park and paddling pool. Back at school now, we are going to be using our fieldwork to make records of what we found.

Well done Year One!
