Year 3 Writing

As Year 3 have moved from their Romans topic and into their volcanoes topic, what better way than to explore Pompeii and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius!

Alongside their topic learning, exploring the ancient city of Pompeii and the artefacts found there, the children have also thought about what it would be like to witness the eruption of a powerful volcano. In their English lessons, they have explored personification, created descriptive word banks and written detailed setting descriptions of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii.

Next week, they will be using these ideas to write an informal letter, imagining they were near Pompeii at the time Vesuvius began to erupt. They have already begun to think about the features of letter writing and exploring what they will need to include in their own.
