Throughout the year the children in Year 2 get lots of opportunities to write in different genres, both fiction and non-fiction. One of their most imaginative forms of writing is when they get the opportunity to write a non-chronological report about a mythical creature that they have invented.
The children carefully planned what their creature would look like and the habitat it lived in.
As you can imagine we got to hear about some super mythical creatures, that if existed would be totally amazing. These included; The Sunset Unicorn, The Poisonous Godiger, The Cute Magic Mermaid and The Dragon Myono, to name but a few.
The children learnt all about the features of non-chronological reports and included an introduction, sub headings and interesting facts to assist the reader.
They used their plans and enthusiastically set about writing their reports using word banks to check their spellings and they referred continually to their plans to ensure that they hadn’t missed out any important facts that they had thought of.
