This week in art, Year 5 have been exploring collage. They have worked with a variety of papers to find out which ones are easiest to tear, glue or layer on top of one another.
Many found the tissue paper difficult to tear neatly and glue without breaking, but it proved useful for layering and some people found that they could alter the colour of the paper below it to create depth.
To make the pieces of paper smaller, some chose to tear while others found scissors more precise.
Once we had finished layering our papers and gluing our patterns, we wrote reflections on which were the most effective parts of our collages and why, as well as the best papers or colours to work with and why. We will be using what we’ve learnt to make impactful collages this half term.
