Year One started the Spring Term by having a visit from the Creature Teachers. There was much excitement to be had as they brought six different animals for the children to see and touch including a millipede, a blue tongued skink, a royal python snake, an owl and two ferrets!
Watching an owl fly across the room was not a usual start to a Monday morning, but lots of fun non-the-less!
The session was not just about having fun though and the children also learnt a lot. They were excellent at observing the animals closely and listening carefully as they learnt about the features of each group of animals ; birds, amphibians, fish, reptiles and mammals. The children also learnt some fascinating facts! Did you know that millipedes eat damp and decaying leaves?
Keep up the excellent topic learning Year One!
