As part of Arts Week, Year 3 have been studying Africa, using a range of skills to create artwork inspired by what they have learnt. On Thursday, we were very lucky to have a visit from Maisie, The Touring Potter, who came to work with the children to create clay tiles, masks and heads influenced by The Benin Bronzes.
The Benin Bronzes were discovered in 1939 and are a group of several thousand metal plaques and sculptures that decorated the royal palace of the Kingdom of Benin.
We look forward to showing you the finished pieces on our display soon!
