Jeep Builders

In science, Year 2 have been looking at different habitats. As an extension of their understanding of habitats, they have had great fun designing and making jeeps that would be ideal for going on a safari and exploring the environment. They learnt about the terrain that the jeeps would need to travel through and thought about the safety and comfort element for the passengers inside.

The children studied different vehicle styles and then planned their designs.

After the initial designs had been created, they worked hard to build their jeeps.

They cut materials accurately and safely by selecting appropriate tools and used different joining techniques. Then they attached dowel and wheels to make sure their models were mobile.

Once they had finished their models, the children decided that they wanted to race them to see which vehicle was the fastest and strongest.

Our winner was given a huge applause and a great time was had by all!

Well done Year 2!
