Last week, as part of our geography topic based on biomes, Year 6 visited Redhill guided by the amazing staff from the Urban Heath Partnership. We took part in two different activities that helped to develop our knowledge and understanding of our local community.
The first task was to explore the flora that exists on Redhill heathland. We compared maps from the late 1800s to now and discussed the changes to the local area and why they happened. We then went on a hunt for a range of different plant life and took samples.
Our second session was based on OS maps, using them and creating our own versions. We also learnt about 4 and 6 figure grid references.
