Recently a Yr 5 Handball team made the trip up to Bryanston school in Blandford for the Dorset School Games. This is an annual event where schools that have won Bournemouth competitions get to play at county level against teams from other areas. There are also around 20 other sports going on at the same time so it’s quite the spectacle. Our Yr 5 team played some lovely handball, playing a mix of attacking and defending. They also showed their versatility with some great 1:1 marking in games but also zonal marking around the edge of the goalkeeper area. In the afternoon teams were pooled from their league positions from the morning and the top teams mate finals so we could get an overall match to decide the winners on the day. There were 9 handball pitches in play and it was fantastic to watch all of the games. Winton competed really well winning 4 games across the day and it certainly was an event that all the children enjoyed. Well done to everyone involved.
