British Army Visit

Recently, Year Six were visited by Lance Corporal Nick Hill from the British Army who gave us a detailed insight into the life of someone in  the Royal Engineers.  As well as bringing in some of the equipment that a soldier would use on the front line, Lance Corporal Hill also helped us to gain a further understanding of a past topic – WW2 – by comparing past and modern warfare.

The children were interested to learn that war has come full circle and returned to the so-called trench warfare of WW1. They were also surprised by the weight and complexity of the equipment that a soldier has to carry – even though most of it was empty!

In turn, Lance Corporal Hill was also impressed by the knowledge that the year 6 children possessed about WW2 and their intelligent questions regarding the life of a modern day soldier!
