Year 6 have been working on a design and technology project to create their own fabric phone case.
They started by looking at a design brief which stated that the case had to hold a smart phone to protect it from dust and dirt, as well as protecting the screen from scratches. After looking at the materials available, the children designed their case.
Once they’d completed their design, they needed to cut their fabric and sew all of the components together. We learnt two stiches, overstitch and backstitch, which the children chose from when joining their fabric pieces together.
Some went for bright and bold designs, others for personalised initials or hobbies, and some went for a minimalistic, professional design. The final results are very impressive Year 6! We hope you enjoy using the cases at home.
