Recently Winton and all of the Bournemouth Schools took part in the annual Town Sports Athletics. This was an all day competition covering most of the traditional running, jumping and throwing events that you would see at the Olympics. The weather was scorching but it was amazing to see athletics in action again. Winton’s own Sports Leaders led the warm up dance to all the parents and the 1000+ children competing. Then the track heats and field events got underway through the morning before the Town Finals in the afternoon.
Winton did fantastically well at Town Sports and qualified for many of the finals including 3 out of the 4 relays. The icing on the cake was our Year 6 girls (Lexie, Ria, Holly and Lottie) qualifying for and then winning the final of the 4 x100m Relay for which they picked up a lovely shield for the school. Other great achievements were: Benji in Year 4 winning The Long Jump, Reuben in Year 6 winning The High Jump, Millie in year 5 winning The Rounders Ball throw, Eva in Year 4 placing 5th in the 60m sprint Town finals having won her heat, Hugo placing 2nd in the 60m Town final after winning his heat, Daniel in year 5 was 5th in the Town Finals of the 75m, Lexie in Year 6 was 2nd in the 75m Town Finals, Joseph in year 6 was 3rd in the 75m Town Finals and Nevaeh was 3rd in the 150m Town Finals. What a day and amazing work by all of the children involved.
