The children in Year 1 had a fantastic day at the end of last half term celebrating their learning on the Platinum Jubilee and the life of Queen Elizabeth II with the ladies from the local branch of the Women’s Institute. They welcomed Barbara, Jean and Pam to school and shared the exhibition of work.
We were even able to show some cards the children had received from The Queen herself!
The children sang the National Anthem and our wonderful school Platinum Jubilee song ‘Would you believe it’s a Jubilee?’ before they ate some celebration refreshments.
Finally we planted a tree to help the Queen create her ‘Queen’s Canopy’ and we named it ‘The Jubilee Tree’.
What a wonderful day was had by all. The ladies were delighted to have been invited and told me they had a lovely time visiting us, and thought the children had worked so hard. Well done Year 1, super community spirit.
And happy Jubilee Ma’am from everyone in Year 1.
