Continuing our Egyptian topic this half term we have been looking at what the Egyptians used instead of paper. Following a very delicate process, the Egyptians made a paper like material from the papyrus plant and called this new material ‘papyrus’.
We wanted to imitate this process in the classroom so in our first lesson we made our papyrus using a similar overlapping technique that the Egyptians would have used but with strips of coloured paper instead.
Following our topic lessons last week, we then tried out our papyrus by painting our favourite god or goddess. Check out how they turned out – looks like Year 4 are almost professional papyrus makers!
