In Year 1, the children have been revisiting 2D and 3D shapes in Maths. We have had lots of fun playing different games to help us learn the properties of each shape. The children have particularly loved playing the ‘hide the shape’ game in which they had to hide the shape and explain how many vertices and edges the shape had and what the shape of the faces were. Another game we have played was ‘what shape am I?’. The children worked in partners, each child had a shape to hold up but they could not look at their own shape, their partner then had to use their skills to describe the shape for them to guess. We have been really blown away by the children’s knowledge and ability to use the correct mathematical language to describe the shape properties. Well done, Year 1!
