Maths in Year R!

We have been very busy doing lots of maths this half term, and we invited our grown ups in to show them what we have been doing. We did some counting to 20, and can even do it backwards too. We then had lots of maths activities on each table, and explored them with our parents.

We used some dice to make addition on a tens frame. We had to use the counters to find the amounts and then place them on a tens frame and count all to find the answers.

We used the number lines to find one more and one less of a number. We told our adults how numbers get bigger when we do more and numbers get smaller when we take a way one.

We used the 100 square to find numbers to 100. We talked about looking at where the numbers will be in the square. We noticed that each column has a different number at the end which made them easier to find.

Then we also showed our number bonds to 10. We got the numicon to show which two numbers are pairs to make 10. All the children now have their own maths packs with all of these lovely resources in, we can’t wait to see what you get up to with them at home.
