The children in Reception have had a busy start to the half term, enjoying the wide range of construction materials on offer. In indoor learning, the children have been exposed to the terms, ‘stacking’ ‘rolling’ and ‘connecting’ and have enjoyed exploring how different resources work. Linking to the stories we are reading in class, ‘Whatever Next!’ and ‘Mrs Wishy Washy’ the children have created rockets for Baby Bear, tubs for the animals to be washed in, and even towns for Baby Bear’s family. We have seen brilliant use of Grimm’s Rainbow too, being used to order pieces from shortest to tallest. It has been fantastic to hear the children’s vocabulary develop, with children using phrases like “I have balanced the turtle on top of the sea!” and “Look how I’ve connected the tallest building to the shortest building!” It has been fantastic to see the children working as part of a team too, well done Year R!
