This half term, Year 6 have been learning about World War II, and we have incorporated this into our writing. Using the video, Beyond the Lines as a stimulus, the children wrote the beginning of a narrative from a soldier’s point of view.
After planning and generating ideas, they planned the words and phrases they wanted to use in each paragraph. As well as including the thoughts and feelings of the soldier, they used figurative language to describe the place emotively.
Throughout their narrative, they added letter extracts from the soldier to a loved one at home. After writing, they edited and analysed their writing to make sure that it had achieved its aim.
The Year 6 team are extremely proud of the writing they produced. Well done Year 6!
