This term, Year 6 have been learning about portal stories including our class text, Coraline.
First, children were introduced to the idea of portal stories through images of doors. They then learnt a poem about going through a door to another world. 
The children practised the poem by coming up with their own actions to remember the lines. They then performed them to the class.
Afterwards, they wrote their own poems, using language to build an atmosphere, about what was lurking behind the door. For the last two weeks, they have been writing their own portal stories – where will their characters end up?
