This week Year 1 shared their expert knowledge on pirates as part of their, ‘Should we call Grace O’Malley a pirate?’ topic. The children had a visit from Ben, from the Treehouse Theatre Company, who was impressed with how much the children had learnt about pirates. The children shared their facts with Ben who made their ideas come to life through storytelling and drama. Did you know? Women who wanted to be pirates used to cut their hair off. Grace O’Malley was a female pirate who met Queen Elizabeth in order to demand her land back. The children really did impress Ben with their knowledge of Grace O’Malley, well done Year 1!
