Year 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London. They have been using different historical sources from the past to find out what it was like. They have used Samuel Pepys’ diary extracts and diary extracts from John Evelyn to describe what happened over those 5 days. The children then used the diary extracts to write a ‘found’ poem. A ‘found’ poem is a poem made up of words and phrases from a text that describes something. The children had to find words and phrases that described what it was like at the height of the fire to write their ‘found’ poem.
Here are some examples of their ‘found’ poems.
