Eggs away!

As part of our “Super scientist” topic, year five have been investigating forces. This time is was the turn of air resistance. After a theory lesson regarding the chosen force, the children were tasked with creating a parachute that would be able to save a falling egg from certain doom!

The teams were only provided with a limited amount of materials, any other things that they believed would be useful, they had to source themselves and bring from home.

To say the children were competitive in their mission to save the egg would be an understatement! They worked extremely well to the egg drop deadline, teamwork was essential and the groups worked very hard to make sure that everyone was included as they aimed towards the same goal!

Once the parachutes were ready they were carefully carried out to the courtyard area where Mr King launched them!

The designs were incredibly successful with only three casualties being recorded! Well done year five!
