Year 4 Sports Day

The athletes were motivated and the atmosphere high as Year 4 took on their annual Sports Day on Monday afternoon. It was great to see all the children trying their best to score points for their classes and house colours. The afternoon started with the 50m Sprint Heats. This followed by a rotation of class events. Each class was split into two and took it in turns working together to master the throwing distances of the Welly Wang and Bean Bag Throw; The precision of the handball shooting or penalty taking; The frenzy of keeping the beach volleyballs up or the art of throwing and ducking in a dodgeball game and lastly the balance and skill of the Egg and Spoon Race coupled with The Water Relay. Following this the children all had a different type of relay race to run in teams of 6 within their classes. This was either a short or long relay with or without hurdles. Finally all the children went to spectate by the running track to watch the two finals of the 50m sprints. This contained the two girls and boys from each class that had won their heats from earlier. With great sportsmanship and teamwork the cascade of cheering flew down the track with the runners. A fitting end to a great afternoon of activity. Well done to Year 4
