Year 3 have been enjoying reading a range of chapter books this year including ‘A Piglet called Truffle,’ ‘A Sheepdog called Sky,’ ‘Fantastic Mr Fox,’ and ‘Romans on The Rampage.’
Each week, children take part in paired reading to improve their fluency and over the year they have become very good at this. They have learnt that, as a partner, their job is to listen carefully, praise their partner and help them when they are stuck. As readers, they have learnt to read slowly, check what they are reading makes sense and different strategies to have a go at reading tricky words.
