This week Year One have had a visit from Pirate Georgina. The children were also introduced to the famous pirate, Harry Paye and they helped to tell his story through drama. Following this they were taught how to hoist the mainsail using rope and benches! Year One were very excited about becoming part of Pirate ‘G’s’ crew and they enjoyed re-enacting this. They used telescopes to look out to sea, used sand timers to choose and change roles and also found real treasure from the past.
The children had a fantastic day and it was a great introduction to their new topic.
