Big Pedal

Last week saw the start of the children and staff at Winton taking part in the Big Pedal. The aim is to get as many people as possible travelling actively to school by walking, scooting or cycling. We are currently the top school in Bournemouth, Christchuch and Poole!

The bike shelters have been overflowing with bikes and scooters over the week. It has been great to see so many families choosing to park slightly further away from the school site and walk part of the journey.

Children who took an active journey to school during the first week have been entered into the raffle to win a new scooter at the end of the Big Pedal. There will be 3 winners chosen at random on Friday 30th April, so there are still chances to get your name entered into the raffle by taking an active journey this week.

The bronze ambassadors and house captains have been selecting a winning scooter and bike each day with the golden lock. Keep an eye out for the golden lock in the playground each day this week.

Each class is competing to have the most active journeys across the week and receive a class reward. After the first week the winning class was 1NP who recorded the most active journeys to school across the week. Well done 1NP!

The top five classes for week one are shown below, with the percentage of children and staff in the class who took active journeys across the week:
