Since starting Year 1 the children have been so excited to get stuck into reading again. During the first week of school the children met our reading mascot, The Everywhere Bear. He loves to read everywhere! You might find him reading under a tree, in the swimming pool or even in a den. The children have been busy getting stuck into a story in all sorts of places. You can see some of the exciting places we have been reading below. A favourite spot to read has definitely been in the park under a tree. Some of the children even cycled their story to the park, amazing!
The Everywhere Bear has been so impressed with all Year 1’s reading so far that he has challenged them to read to someone special next week. This could be someone close to us, or someone who we can’t currently see at
the moment. (I know they would love to hear a story over a video call!) I wonder how many different people the Year 1 children can read with next week.
A big thank you to all the parents and children who have loved getting involved with The Everywhere Bear reading challenge. The children have been so excited to share their pictures with the class and tell them about the stories they have read. It is having a positive impact on their reading journeys, so well done. You can see all the fabulous Year 1 class reading displays below. WOW Year 1 you really do love to read! Keep it up!
