Since the Reception children have returned to school they have been immersed in learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children were so excited to find some magical beans, where had they come from? The children set off straight away with creating talk for writing actions for their version of Jack and the Beanstalk. It was amazing to see the children creating such super actions, there were lots of loud angry giants! The children got creative and decided they wanted to create some artwork from the story. Some children chose to watercolour the beanstalk, some chose to paint the characters and a few children decided to make their own magical beans. Look how special these ones are!
The children have also been completing some fantastic independent writing. It was impressive to see the different ways they chose to retell their story. This week the children are going to innovate their stories. This means changing what their magical beans grow into and what they find at the top of their new beanstalk. We have had lots of excited chat about finding dragons in caves and gorillas in trees at the top of their beanstalks. I can’t wait to see what the children come up with this week, watch this space!
