Busy bees on VE Day

On May 8th it was 75 years since VE Day. There were a few children in school on this bank holiday and we made sure we celebrated and remembered the lives that were lost during World War 2.

During the week the children had made a VE Day banner by painting and cutting up magazines to make the poppies.

The children also made salt dough poppies.

On VE Day the children made Union Flag biscuits.

At 10.55 we turned on BBC1 and watched the VE Day commemorative programme and joined in with the 2 minute silence at 11.00am. The children were fascinated by the footage from VE Day 75 years ago, and how young The Queen looked on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

We started the day, as we always do in school, with a Joe Wicks workout, and as it was Friday it meant we all had to join Joe in dressing up! Have a look at the super stretches we did whilst in costume.

In keeping with the VE Day celebtrations we even had The Queen join us for the workout!

How did you socially distance celebrate VE Day?
