This week a group of Yr 5 children started a 5 week unit of work around table cricket. Led by Rob Newton from the cricket group ‘A Chance To Shine,’ the children got to grips with bowling, batting and fielding but in a slightly different way to the usual game of cricket outside! Table Cricket helps to develop team work, co-ordination, confidence, tactical awareness, communication skills, aids physical and mental development and increases self-esteem. Table Cricket also has cross-curriculum benefits in aiding numeracy, citizenship and PE integration. The children certainly enjoyed their first session. Thanks to Rob and The Chance To Shine Team for bringing this to Winton for the second year.
