This week year five have been using all their learning from this half term to create a “rainforest in a box!”
Each class was tasked with the job of re-creating a tropical environment out of various materials in order to demonstrate what they had learnt about this magnificent biome.
We had toucans perched on branches, monkeys swinging from lianas and, on the forest floor, the Amazon River snaking its way slowly through jungle.
The children worked really well in large teams of approximately nine which were then split into smaller teams or two or three, each assigned to a particular layer of the rainforest. They had to use their planning and collaboration skills to make sure that their finished layer tied into the other layers otherwise we would have had floating trees!
Hopefully you will agree that the finished products were totally tropical! Great job year five!
