Police Visit Year 5

As part of our Crime and Punishment topic year 5 had the pleasure of welcoming two local Police Community Support Officers. They spoke to us about modern crimes and informed them about the system our country follows to ensure there are consequences to any criminal actions. The children and teachers were shocked to hear that children from the age of 10 can be arrested. We had lots of questions about if young people commited crimes, caused damage and what would happen to them as a result. A lot of learning took place. I know myself and th other teachers had even more great questions when we returned to our classes around the different courts and process of being put in prison. A thoroughly interesting visit.
