As part of the PE curriculum for this year, 3DB and 3SV were very excited to start their tennis and fitness lessons at Victoria Avenue Tennis Club. On Thursday morning, Year 3 braved the weather and walked a short distance to the professional tennis courts and took part in various tennis skills and games for 90 minutes. The children started off by working with a partner to develop their reaction times to specific instructions and catching the ball.
They were then split into groups and used their forehand and backhand to hit and aim the ball over the net and into the furthest rectangle ‘No man’s land’. After an energetic 90 minutes of continuous activities, Year 3 finished the session with a fun game and then walked back to school. Well done to Elliotte, Emily and Paddy, who were chosen as players showing best sportsmanship.
