The children in Reception were excited to find lots of mud and farm animals in their classrooms when they came into school on Monday! After speculation, they learned it was Mrs Wishy Washy and her muddy animals. They found out that Mrs Wishy Washy is our new Talk for Writing story and they are so excited to get started! Over the past week the children have enjoyed being immersed into the text. They have been washing the animals in the tub outside, re-telling the story with animals and mud and have even been painting their favourite animals from the story! Wow, how creative you are Reception.
The children have been enjoying the story so much that they have also been excited to write about it. We have seen lots of amazing independent writing about the story and even some super character descriptions about the animals.
As the landing of this topic we are going to Longdown Dairy Farm. Before we go on the trip we have been busy making fact cards and painting pictures. To learn the fact cards we have been actively retelling them through actions and sounds. The children were fascinated to find out that cows have 4 stomachs! The children have then enjoyed writing the fact cards which they are then going to present to the farm in the form of a booklet next week. We hope you enjoy reading our book!
