Year 1 decided it would be really lovely if we could spread some Christmas cheer to finish our latest topic ‘Rudolph Runs Away’. We walked to a local care home to sing and share some of our learning with the residents there. First we re-told our talking story that we had innovated in our classes and also used the puppets we made as props to re-tell.
Then we sung some Christmas songs to make sure everyone was really feeling the Christmas spirit.
We also sung our school Christmas single ‘We Can’t Wait’ to the residents.
Rudolph the red nose reindeer was a very popular song and some of the residents were able to join in with the singing.
After this we shared the Christmas Cards we had made with our new friends and got to spend time getting to know the residents.
They were very kind and had got squash and biscuits for us to share with them there too.
We had a really lovely time there and the children loved sharing their learning.
