Eggcellent Experiments in Year 5

In year 5 we are studying forces and this week we have been understanding gravity and its effect. To look at this in further detail, we chose to drop eggs from a height of 2 metres and the task was to build a contraption that might prevent it from breaking. Most of us thought about parachutes because air resistance slows down the effect of gravity. We planned and built our contraptions in small groups. It was an extremely tense moment when we dropped our eggcellent contraptions containing our precious eggs. We had a cracking time releasing our parachutes. With anticipation we checked our eggs and hoped that they had been spared. Some more cracking than others.
