It has been a busy few weeks for Winton’s Yr 5/6 girls football team. Firstly news came through that the girls had won their league for this season which was a fantastic achievement considering many of the girls were new to football at the start of the year. Secondly they played in the Bournemouth finals to decide who would be the overall town champions. This was an exciting game that Winton eventually lost 2-1 to St. Katherines. Thirdly, this week the girls have played in the Primary Stars Cup, a tournament run by AFC Bournemouth where the winning side would represent the Premier League club in a final at the K-Power stadium in Leicester. The girls did themselves proud and only just missed out on reaching the final stages with just one defeat in five games. Mr Millar has been so delighted with the progress of the team the after school club will continue through the year, even though the season has now come to a end. Well done to everyone involved and once again great support from our parents.
